HERcultivation With Media Maven Mojisola Edu

When did you first find your passion?

I first found my passion to be in the entertainment industry and to touch people across the world, when I used to watch MTV in the 80’s. I saw how media influenced the masses. From American Band Stand and Soul Train. The power of music and the power of an individual could change people’s lives. I wanted to be able to connect people through media. I wanted to put a impact in the industry.

What’s important to you about living your passion?

The most important thing about living my dream is that I am able to do what I want to do at any given time. I am also, able to spend more time with my daughter which is my everything. Most of the time when your working for someone else , you don’t have time for your family but, I do. I am also able to show my daughter that the sky is the limit and you don’t need to put limits on what you can achieve. It all starts with an idea .

What motivates you to start your day?

What motivates me to start the day is my daughter she is my pride and joy. I go out everyday knowing that what I am working hard for is her to have a better life. To lay a foundation for her and being able to leave a legacy behind. Also, knowing what I am doing is about to touch different people in their on way.

How do you prepare yourself for an interview?

The way I prepare for an interview is by researching the people I am going to interview. I find out their likes and dislikes. I watch past interviews they have done and I watch there mannerisms. I find out their cultural background and get a feel for them. That helps me determine what my ice breaker will be to make the person I am interviewing feel comfortable. For example when I interviewed Kevin Hart , I told him I knew his ex-wife and she spoke highly of him and he felt comfortable talking to me. With director Jeff Nichols I told him about his first film he every did and he was actually happy I even took the time to watch his movie. As for Brain Tee who played shredder in TMNT I knew he was half Korean and Japanese so, I greeted him in Korean. Being in the military taught me to always study your subject. Another thing is when I go to an interview, I always analyze the lay of the land. This means where should I position myself to get a good shot and when and where I need my tripod or not.

Give us one tip, that can change our way of thinking.

Your always one person away from your blessing. Meaning never judge a book by it’s cover whether it is a event or a individual you meet, it could a blessing in disguise. Step outside your inter-circle and try new things. I trolled eventbrite for free events and I found alot of events to cover and they lead to bigger events. Building connections is power , you must continue to build and don’t burn bridges.

Any pointers for the next entrepreneur startups?

To the next startup, find your niche and research what your getting into. Opportunities are everywhere, we are living in a world where any idea can become a billionaire company. You sometimes have to step out on faith and step out of your comfort zone in order to achieve your goal. Stay true to yourself and make sure your surround yourself with people who motivate you.
